Do the high school classes count for credit towards a transcript?

See HSLDA or the WHO websites for ample information on assigning high school credit for classes. Depending on which combination of classes your high school student takes, each community day and it’s associated work/reading could meet:

  • 1 History credit

  • 1 English/composition credit

  • 1 credit for our rotating electives (past years have included Financial Literacy, Character & Leadership)

  • .5 Fine arts or elective credit for the Oratory Hour.

Assignment of high school grades and credits is the full responsibility of the parent.

Do you allow dropping off or partial participation?

No. This is a block-style community with the intent to cultivate lasting and meaningful relationships by agreeing that we will all fully participate in the co-op day together. We are a highly family-oriented community and work hard to provide something excellent for each age during our short time together.

Can students take another class in a same subject outside of Snohomish schole?

We request that your student not take a competing class elsewhere, either online or locally, in any of their subjects/classes they take on community day with us. Two simultaneous classes in the same subject tends to turn one or both into a shallow survey, skimming the surface and trying to get a plethora of boxes checked instead of deep enjoyment and engagement of carefully chosen materials.

Do I have to teach if my kids attend classes?

This is a cooperative effort. Each parents needs to contribute by teaching, leading, assisting or in some other manner ensuring that our learning day goes smoothly.

Why don’t you meet all day and have a full load of classes?

We have selected for community day the subjects that we feel are most valuable to study together. The homeschool parent gets to choose how to round out each family’s learning by adding the remaining subjects and materials that best suit their unique family. We heartily recommend math for all ages and science as well at age appropriate levels as important pieces of a liberal arts education. In keeping with the heart of schole, we will allow our students margin to pursue interests, relationships and the deep engagement of books and ideas that will nourish their souls.

How can i be better equipped to teach my kids?

The Schole Sisters are a top-notch resource for continuing the “mom learning” journey as homeschooling mothers. Join the Sistership for free here for access to the basics of their community. Read Aloud Revival is another great place to find information that will equip you to have meaningful discussions with your kids about books!

My kids are all little, can we join?

There are many local homeschooling resources great for younger learners and not as many for middle/high school. Our community is open to families who oldest child is at least 10 by the beginning of our school year. Classes for 5th grade and under are only provided for siblings of older classmates and whose parents are involved in teaching in some capacity.
